The Altar

By Rev. Rebecca

The altar is the Christian’s Feast Table and is a place of great joy. It represents Christ’s presence among us and reminds us continually of the great sacrifice Jesus made for us as the perfect sacrificial lamb upon the altar of God’s love. Jesus is the final sacrifice and we are invited to join him at the Table as we offer back to God ourselves, our thanksgiving, our worship and our substance. All of these are gathered back up into, made acceptable by, and united with, the One Perfect Sacrifice of Jesus Christ at the Eucharist. The altar is also symbolic of both the cross and the empty tomb.
